Honoring Dr. David Campbell

FifthTheory is saddened to share news of the passing of Dr. David P. Campbell, world renowned measurement and leadership psychologist and esteemed colleague.

Dr. Campbell was a noted pioneer in the field of individual and multirater 360 assessment for leadership, career and organization development. His landmark 360 assessment is the Campbell Leadership Index® that has been used globally to develop leaders in business, government, and educational settings.

Dr. Campbell rose to the rank of Full Professor in Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He has been honored with numerous awards from professional associations in recognition of his accomplishments and scientific contributions, including the Career Achievement Award presented by the Association of Test Publishers.

Dr. Campbell also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society for Training and Development.

Members of FifthTheory’s professional staff have collaborated with Dr. Campbell in the development and publication of his leadership and organizational assessment surveys over the past three decades. FifthTheory, as the exclusive distributor of these instruments, will continue to support and extend Dr. Campbell’s innovative 360 assessments for leadership, team and organizational development through the Campbell International Leadership Institute™, an affiliate of FifthTheory, in 2021 and beyond. Leadership coaches, HR professionals, and organizational consultants will be able to receive certification as a Campbell Leadership Development Coach through the Institute. FifthTheory will also be releasing Dr. Campbell’s latest 2021 publications that deal with virtual leadership during the pandemic and ethical leadership challenges.
